The Hinoki Bath Spa contains two bags of hinoki wood shavings. When steeped in water, the bag releases a mild citrus scent to rejuvenate the mind in a warm bath experience.
Hinoki is an ancient cypress wood that is native to central Japan. It is one of Japan’s most revered trees for its durability, anti-bacterial qualities and natural citrus scent. Hinoki is characterised by a lustrous white body and straight grain, with a life span of more than a thousand years. As a prized material with cleansing and purifying qualities, Hinoki has long been used in the building of ancient palaces, shrines and temples. It is also a classic material used in the production of traditional Japanese baths and bathware items due to its deodorising properties, strong resistance to humidity and natural oil content which is quick to repel water.
