Cestita by Miguel Milá, Sanat & Cole (1962)

An archetype of industrial craftsmanship

Inspired by the traditional lanterns that light up homes along the coast, rural estates and open terraces, Cestita is the little sister of one of the most iconic lamps created by Miguel Milá. It can house an opal glass shade or a white plastic one, making it more child resistant. The size of this lamp object makes it easy to pick up and carry, equally ideal for both tabletops and floors. It is produced and assembled manually by European craftsmen, using traditional steam bending techniques for the wood, which is delicately polished and sturdily put together. Despite its peculiarity (or rather because of it) the lamp’s design and function remain contemporary.

Miguel Milá is one of the most renowned Spanish industrial designers. He began his career in the fifties, and is one of the country’s pioneers of the discipline. To the present day, his works have remained true contemporary classics.

Locus Ladder is designed by the Danish architect Eva Harlou, CEO at Earth Studio.

Locus is the Latin word for “place/space” and embodies aesthetics in a multifunctional storage furniture in the shape of a ladder. The piece has little functional limits and comes with a canvas saddle bag suitable for storage. Locus is made from FSC certified wood from well-managed forestry, with brass hooks and brass details which adds luxury to the organic wooden furniture.

Locus is a playful yet sculptural piece for both private residential and hospitality. It is as strong as the well-known gym ladder and suitable for kids playing as well as daily exercise. 

The design supports the UN Sustainable Development Goals of protecting “Life on Land” (SDGs 15), “Responsible Consumption and Production” (SDGs 12) and “Partnership for the Goals” (SDGs 17).

J39, designed by Børge Mogensen in 1947. This versatile masterpiece is crafted from solid wood and features a hand-woven seat in natural paper cord.

Being a very contemporary design, the SOBORG chair bridges contrasts, between industrial and handcrafted solutions, the textural properties of solid wood and plywood and between a lightweight and solidly grounded expression.

The Soborg-chair was designed with the intention to make a shell chair that could be produced with new machinery of the times. The generous seat and back design, in Mogensen's favourite materials, was the beginning of a shape seen in works throughout the rest of his career.

Folding furniture, developed at the end of the 19th century, was immediately popular among lemonade sellers of the day, as it was quick and easy to pack away, which allowed them to avoid paying the licence for a permanent terrace!
Fermob developed the Bistro range from the original model described in the "Simplex" patent registered in 1889 – and of which the brand is now the trustee – and produced an ingenious, simple collection that is bursting with joy and which has lost none of its charm and authenticity!
Bistro continues to delight today, with its distinctive chairs and 10 table formats to mix and match. Furthermore, its typically French style has won fans in Times Square and Bryant Park in New York.

Inspired by traditional Shaker tables, Mogensen designed C18 in 1947 as a durable table for everyday use. Available with additional plates extending the table top by 40 cm at each end.

One of Børge Mogensen's most unusual chairs. He designed the Hunting Chair in 1950 for the autumn exhibition of the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers' Guild, whose theme that year was 'The Hunting Lodge'. The frame is made of oak, while seat and back are of butt leather with adjustable straps - a rustic and masculine combination that Mogensen developed later in other pieces such as the Spanish Chair. 

The word “piloti” refers to the pillars or columns that elevate a building above the ground. An elegant integration of the table top with the legs ensures a subtle, streamlined transition into one balanced entity. The Piloti tables in wood are made from solid oak, a naturally beautiful, tactile material that needs no adornment.

Tatu is an object-lamp that has become memorable icon of Spanish pop culture of the 1970s. Incorporating LED technology, the light intensity and focal aperture are easily adjustable, conducive to quiet retreat or activities that require concentration. And its friendliness is legendary.

An icon of pop culture

Tatu, Spanish for armadillo, is a friendly mammal with a shell on its back that protects it when it rolls up into a ball. The idea for Tatu was born on a transoceanic flight; while Ricard was reading about Argentinean wildlife, he observed that the light above his seat did not disturb his sleeping wife who was sitting next to him. The lamp became a pop-art icon in Europe. Tatu takes us back to carefree days, when consumer goods came to the European middle classes and their children started a massive aesthetic revolution; from Andy Warhol to The Beatles to Mary Quant. Everything could be expressed differently.

After nearly 50 years, Santa & Cole reedited this classic with improved lighting features. This flex­ible lamp consists of three parts that can rotate independently to adapt its use for a shelf, desk, or bedside table; it could even be used as a wall light (fittings included). Santa & Cole’s edition of the original Tatu is enhanced by applying LED technology. This makes the light intensity easily adjustable, and the light source considerably less hot and longer lasting. It also features a moveable converging lens that allows the user to adjust the focal length.

The Sylvestrina lamp follows you around. Freed from the moorings of electric wires, now it lights up any conversation, including in its usual place, resting on a table.

At the age of forty-four, Antoni de Moragas Gallissà designed the Moragas lamp for his own office. Rationalist architect and first president of the Association of Industrial Design FAD, he was an instigator of the architectural renewal in post-war Spain. Moragas had this lamp on his desk and would often use it to place notes and business cards he’d receive, inserting them between the ribbon folds.
